Our Story

In May 2019, we welcomed our beautiful baby girl Poppy into the world.

Unfortunately after several scares it transpired that Poppy was born with 3 heart defects. At two weeks old she had her first heart surgery. 4 months later she had another; the big one, to fix her heart once and for all.

For those first four months we stayed at Evelina Children's Hospital. The care Poppy received was above and beyond what you could imagine. The nurses would cuddle her, make her books journaling her journey to recovery (there were two volumes) and make sure that we were doing ok.

They were hard times, but having the support and care meant we all came through ok!

Evelina are an amazing organisation and it's an honour to fundraise for them. On that note nothing but a ridiculously hard challenge would be worthy. 

Swimming is judged by many as the toughest of the 3 triathlon disciplines. So i went and found one the toughest open water swims in the UK. It's 14km/8.7miles long (an ironman swim is 3.8km/2.4miles) and it's in the River Thames.

There is no question that I am going to suffer on this one, so please give generously so Evelina can continue their amazing work!
