Story
3 years ago, a week before the first nationwide lockdown, I was diagnosed with cancer of the tongue. Two days after diagnosis, I had half of my tongue removed.
After a fortnight's hospital stay and a few weeks of recovery, I began radiotherapy and counselling at Velindre. Throughout the course of my treatment, the staff at Heath Hospital and Velindre took exceptional care of me, and during a time when we couldn't see our own, they treated me like family.
Thanks to their patience, commitment and expertise, I made a full recovery and now have the strength, energy and ability to spend my free time paying back.
To celebrate three years cancer-free, I'm going to complete three challenges:
- Complete 10km runs at Cardiff Bay, Porthcawl and Barry Island
- Complete the Three Peaks Challenge
- Complete a 3km swim
