We fund long-term, sustainable research to find a cure for brain tumours

Story

Before my wedding in June 2018, I vowed that, after the wedding, I would continue to grow my hair in the hope of donating it to charity. It is now 16 months later, my hair has grown A LOT, and the time is more right than ever. Therefore, on Saturday 2nd November I am having my hair cut for charity. I am going to donate my locks to the Little Princess Trust, who do fantastic work creating and providing high quality wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other illnesses, but I am also hoping to raise money for Brain Tumour Research, and here is why...

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet, historically, only 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to brain tumour research. Earlier this year, my cousins wife had a devastating diagnosis of a Grade 4 Glioblastoma, and while the prognosis is absolutely terrible and heart breaking, my cousin and his amazing wife have remained inspiringly positive and have dedicated time to raising money for charity; they have inspired me to do my bit, and this is why "the time is more right than ever".

I have set myself a target of £250, and there is a promise that goes along with this...

If I manage to raise £250, as well as cutting my hair and donating it, I will pledge to train for and sign up to do a 5k run. I know this doesn't seem far, but as someone who doesn't run and hates running outside (other people can see me!!), it would be a big feet.

Furthermore, if I manage to raise £500, I will sign up for not one, but five 5 ks. That's right, I would pledge to run more than one race!

I know that any money raised will not change the immediate prognosis of those who are currently suffering with brain tumours, but I am hoping that any money raised can go towards desperately needed research so other people and families don't have to suffer in the same way ours is.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page; any donations will be very greatly received (even if I have to run as a result of it!!!), and every little helps!
