The Big Golf Race 2024
Campaign by PROSTATE CANCER UK (RCN 1005541 (England & Wales), SC039332 (Scotland))
There's something for everyone in The Big Golf Race. Choose from the Half Marathon (2 rounds, 36 holes, 13 miles in a day), the Marathon (4 rounds, 72 holes, 26 miles in a day) or even the Ultra Marathon (5.5 rounds, 100 holes, 35 miles in a day).

Story

Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. That’s thousands of dads, brothers, partners, grandads, mates, sons and uncles. But we don't believe it has to be this way.

We are two families who have been great friends for 15 years, brought together by our sons’ footballing journeys. Journeys that have been filled with thrills, joy, challenges, sadness, adversity, hard work and triumph. All feelings we are familiar with. And sadly in that time both families have been affected by numerous cases of prostate cancer - provoking all these feelings. And more. Colin, our team leader, is a prostate cancer survivor. Colin's mantra is simple: if we can make a difference to one person's life, then it's worth it. That's what's inspired us and that's the one simple reason we are taking on The Big Golf Race - to help raise money and awareness of prostate cancer to keep men in the game for longer.

We are 'Hitting for Hope'. Spike and Gerry will be taking on 72 holes of golf in 24 hours at Croham Hurst Golf Course on Monday June 10th (thanks so much for hosting us!). This is the equivalent of walking a marathon - and that's if we hit it relatively straight all day! Colin and Morgan will be co-ordinating, organising, supporting, inspiring and leading the fundraising charge.

This is a real team and this will be a real team effort. Your donation to our team will help fund lifesaving research to find better tests to diagnose men sooner. Thank you for your support. It genuinely means a lot to all of us. We'll let you know how we get on and just how many shots we take...!
