Story
Did you know?
An estimated 320,000 people are homeless in the UK, according to the latest research by Shelter? This equates to one in every 201 Brits!
What can we do?
We are collectively fundraising for New Hope and your contribution will make an impact regardless of how little it is. This is a small local charity therefore every help goes a really long way! The New Hope Trust is a local charity to Watford that exists to serve individuals who are homeless or vulnerably housed through the provision of accommodation and opportunities to help in transforming their lives.
How do we do it?
We walk! We shall start at CAE’s HQ in Watford at 4AM, make a quick stop at the trust’s charity shop also in Watford and from there head down to London. We should reach the halfway mark roughly at the London office in Moorgate, then back to Watford following a different route. Estimated time arrival: around 6PM
Why do we do it?
40 miles in over 14 hours!? The task is immense. It represents a physical and mental challenge in multiple ways. Nonetheless these challenges are insignificant when compared with the brutal reality of living on the streets. Isolation, vulnerable, cold, hunger, deprivation, humiliation, loneliness, hardship, unsafe are only a few words we came across while getting familiar with the cause. So, as a group, we are committed to give back by supporting the trust in inverting the statistics and tackle the devastating crisis homelessness has become.
