Next year I turn 30. Ahh! I feel like I should do something special to mark the occasion, so I’m giving up chocolate for a year. Huh? Not sounding particularly fun? Yeah, my husband thinks I’m crazy and that I will suffer without chocolate. So... Why? I want to raise some awareness for modern slavery and some funds to help put an end to it. So it’s a sponsored chocolate fast. Instead of buying me a 30^th birthday present I'm asking my friends and family to donate some money to Anti-Slavery International. Slavery is a massive issue across the world, including in the UK and it’s something I feel strongly about. I’m hoping to educate myself a little more about slavery over the course of the year and plan to share my findings in a blog. It would be great if you read it from time to time, or did your own research, and shared the information you learn with others.

Please feel free to donate at any point in the year and I'll announce the grand total on my 30th birthday. And please take this seriously - I honestly don't want birthday presents for my 30th, I would much prefer to see a fantastic amount raised by the people I love (and anyone else for that matter!).
