Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. This is a new page due to the event being postponed. All money raised from the previous page (£965) has already been sent to the charity.
The Gas and Go ladies (aka Ffion, Jess, Molly and Nikki) have taken on this challenge to raise money for three women's cancer charities, Breast Cancer Care, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action. We will have to train hard over the next year to complete this challenge and we hope to be able to complete it in 6 hours.
We have never done anything like this before and would really appreciate your support and encouragement. These charities are close to our hearts as many of our family and friends have been affected by these cancers. The sad fact is cancer will affect most of us at some point in our lives and research is vital to help find new treatments and hopefully a cure one day.
I can't believe I've signed up for this challenge - 62miles on a bike overnight around London - what was I thinking ;). I'm the old one of the group and i'm going to end up walking like Tina Turner but it will be worth it if we can raise money for this worthy cause. I have never done anything like this before but I'm looking forward to taking on this challenge. (Nikki)
So I’ve decided to convert from a mountain bike to a roadie! I will be cycling 100km through the streets of London at night time (exciting) for an amazing cause! The big C has affected millions of us in the world from the loss of friends or families and everyday people are working hard to raise money to fight against this horrible killer. I would be over the moon if we could hit our target and I appreciate anyone who is in the position to support us and donate! Let’s fight against this! (Molly)
I've decided to do the 62 mile ride the night challenge in London, to support women who are currently fighting the battle and for those who have beaten cervical, breast and ovarian cancer. This is something close to myself and others around me.
Keep fighting ladies, we got this 💪👊 (Ffion)
So I’m almost set for the inaugural ride the night training programme! I must be mad! After investing in a new road bike earlier this year, I will be cycling 100km through the streets of London in May 2020 along with my fellow gas and go ladies in aid of breast, cervical and ovarian cancer. Recent statistics show that in the UK, 7300 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year, with 1 in 7 women developing breast cancer in their lifetime and 3,200 new cases of cervical cancer are found each year. The big C has a detrimental impact on both sufferers and their loved ones and I am sure every person knows of someone who has battled with this terrible illness. I would appreciate anyone who would take the time to read my teams story and if possible donate. All money raised will be split equally between the three charities, which will help improve early diagnosis, fund visionary and life saving research to those diagnosed, and improve the much needed support for all women affected. (Jess)
Please donate whatever you can, every penny helps.
Thank you and wish us luck!
