Story
The Group Company is doing a sponsored skydive to fund a dormitory for the schoolchildren of the Karen Hilltribes in Thailand.
With funding from The Group Company, the Karen Hilltribes Trust will be able to provide facilities for 30-40 children to complete their schooling, by giving them a comfortable place to sleep close to the school.
As Karen children live in such a challenging environment, the chance for a full education is the first step towards a better future. Living in remote mountain villages in Mae Hong Son province, an average Karen family lives off less than £1 per day and only 1 in 4 children complete their secondary schooling, largely due to the huge distance they must walk to school each day.
One of the key aims of the Karen Hilltribes Trust is to improve access to education for the Karen people of Northwest Thailand.
The results of this collaborative project will be transformative for the children, the school and the surrounding community. A new dormitory will not only give young children an opportunity to complete secondary school, but also to go on to learn important skills they can use to help their families in the future.
Thank you again and please remember that every donation contributes directly to improving the quality of life of the children of the Karen Hilltribes.
