Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common neuro-degenerative condition in young adults. In MS, the coating that protects your nerves (myelin) in your brain and spinal cord is damaged which can affect every aspect of how you move, think and feel.
Once diagnosed, MS stays with you for life, but treatments and specialists can help you to manage the condition and its symptoms.
Back in October 2013, following years of dizziness, headaches and falls, our colleague Tasha lost sight in both eyes, all feeling on one side of her body and was so dizzy she couldn't walk across the room. This is when she was finally sent to hospital for an MRI and lumbar puncture and received a diagnosis of MS.
Her recovery and treatment started in May 2014 and since then she has been relapse free and able to continue working hard and living her life.
There's still no cure for MS, but we've never been closer to stopping it than we are today. That's why the IFT Exec are walking to support the MS Society and their work to fund ground breaking research with the Stop MS Appeal which aims to raise £100m to fund life-changing MS research.
