A brand new challenge. Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie are uniting as partners for Open Water Swimathon 2017 to raise as much money as possible for two causes close to the nation’s hearts.

Story

10 years ago, I did a pool-based 5k swim. This time, 10 years older (but clearly no wiser), I am taking to the water again. Open water this time; a lake in Essex, to be precise... Saves pushing off every 25m, I suppose... I will be swimming for two amazing causes - Marie Curie and Cancer Research UK.

New to the Swimathon family, Open Water Swimathon is an open water event happening for the first time in 2017. The inaugural Open Water Swimathon will take place on 9th-10th September.
