The Point” is a day Centre for severely disabled adults and serves a wide area of Sussex and Hampshire from its base in Little Breach, Chichester. Our members are physically disabled rather than having learning disabilities – they are fully aware of life but trapped in a body that does not do their bidding.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Many people with physical disabilities receive little or no encouragement to feel good about themselves. They may wrongly believe that being disabled is a failure and it’s their fault and have feelings of worthlessness. They may be aware that other people have low expectations of them.

The Point, in Chichester (Scope West Sussex) is a resource unit for people from 18 to 50 years of age. As people have understood the possibility of independence, we have moved away from the traditional activities of day care and turned to leisure and the opportunities it presents for social interaction with other members at The Point and out in the general community.

I have seen, first-hand, the difference that The Point makes to the lives of the Members and their families. On a personal level, this year is particularly poignant for me to run, as I was diagnosed with Highly Active Remitting Relapsing M.S. last year. Running in the heat will be a personal challenge, but still nothing compared to the challenges faced by the inspirational people I work with. I urge you to give generously and share this page with others.

Thank you so much for making a big difference.
