Story

For those of you that don't already know. Local friends have challenged themselves to complete the Yorkshire Marathon 2017 this October in aid of The Ross Smith Foundation.

The Ross Smith Foundation was set up to celebrate a wonderful young man and keep his memory alive. The foundation is used to fund and help young people with cancer in addition to providing support to their families; in addition to this the foundation also supports Cancer Research, Grassroots Football and a number of other charitable organisations. Ross had a warm, infectious personality and a smile that would light up any room. Anyone that knew or met him will be able to attest to that and to how significant a loss we have all felt since he was sadly taken from us at the early age of 27 due to cancer.

With the majority of the lads being close mates with Ross it only took a small interest in running a marathon to develop into them actually doing it and recruiting other friends on board to help support this great cause.

The group have no prior running experience and may not know what they have gotten themselves into however since signing up to the event in January they've shown incredible commitment and team-spirit in keeping each other motivated throughout their training. Keep a look out for the lads on their local runs and cheer them on as they prepare themselves to tackle 26 gruelling miles!

The Team: Luke Wilczynski, Nick Foster, Jack Hartley, Josh Hartley, Matty Hartley, Rory Senior, Josh Hans, Sam Talbot, Andy Hawker and Daniel Phipps
