Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In June 2019 our daughter Kari was born after 24 weeks, she was tiny and 50/50 chance of surviving the early days. She was being cared for by the amazing doctors and nurses in Southmead NICU who worked very hard to keep Kari with us.
After a few days it was found that Kari had a hole in her stomach and needed emergency surgery, she was sent over to the children's hospital to have the surgery and then back to St. Mikes NICU for recovery. It was a terrifying time but the staff at St. Mikes were incredible. The kept us up to date and reassured us as much as they could whilst Kari was in Surgery.
Thanks to the surgeons at the children's hospital, the surgery was a success, we were so relieved and the St. Mikes nurses were fantastic with looking after the almost hysterical parents as much as the poorly, tiny little girl.
After nearly 4 months, thanks to the incredible care Kari received from everyone, we were finally able to bring Kari home in October 2019. After a few weeks Kari had to go on oxygen to help her developing lungs, but she was home!
Now here we are, Kari is not on oxygen, she's cutting teeth and crawling around at breakneck speeds. She'll be on her feet and running rings around her big sister Freya in no time, and it is all thanks to our truly amazing NICU staff at Bristol. We feel trying to raise money for this brilliant charity is the least we could do to say thankyou!
This is take 2 in our attempts to run the 10k for The Grand Appeal as COVID spoiled it last year.. Kari was seen as very high risk at the first lockdown and we had to shield for 13 weeks. Hopefully we can actually do it this year, although, any mentions of the word 'Running' on this page is used extremely loosely!
Please help us to support this great charity by sponsoring us if you can. We both appreciate your support.
