I hesitated about asking for help because everyone receives lots of requests, but this isn't about me and my awkwardness. It's about trying to do something to help the people who aren't given a choice and whose lives are devastated by the diagnosis of cancer. People like our amazing friends Sian and Hilary who were taken too soon and whose bravery throughout their illnesses was incredibly humbling as well as inspiring.

The exceptional care they received from Macmillan Cancer support, with compassion and understanding, helped them retain dignity, some sense of control and a degree of comfort at a time when their lives had been turned upside down.

Unfortunately, there will be many more people facing terrible situations and requiring support, and Macmillan needs all the help it can get to continue their vital work. In August 2025, Rosie, Frenchie and I have challenged ourselves to take on the Rob Roy Mighty Hike to help raise money for this important cause. Heartbreakingly we can't bring Sian and Hilary back but we can honour their wonderful memory and try to emulate their kindness and generosity of spirit by helping others.

We'd be so grateful if you could help us with whatever you can spare. This could provide people living with cancer and their families essential medical, practical and emotional support.

There are currently 3 million people living with cancer in the UK today. It's Macmillan's goal to be there for everyone from the moment of diagnosis, but they can't do this without donations from people like you.
