Story
Save Irthlingborough Lakes and Meadows as a haven for wildlife and people forever!
Irthlingborough Lakes and Meadows is a hugely valuable wetland for birds and other wildlife. It lies in the heart of the Nene Valley, one of the most important wetlands in England and an internationally important winter stop-over for thousands of wildfowl and waders. In summer a huge variety of birds come here to breed, including many which have seriously declined in recent years, such as grasshopper warblers and cuckoos.
A generous grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund will play a key part in buying and restoring this very special place, but we still need to raise a further £50,000 in the next eight weeks. Every £10 given will unlock £250 of grant funding towards our goal of creating this new nature reserve.
Please help us seize this chance to acquire the 284 acres of Irthlingborough Lakes and Meadows and secure its future as a fabulous haven for wildlife and people forever.
Irthlingborough Lakes and Meadows is a gem.Now it is within our grasp to own and restore it, turning it into our second largest nature reserve in Northamptonshire, protecting its unique wildlife for ever, and bringing back species that have sadly disappeared such as lapwings and redshanks.
