Story
4 neuroscience students. 1 marathon.
We are 4 fabulous neuroscience students, and to finish the final year of our degree by doing something awesome and well, just a little bit mad, on 17th July we are taking on the Great Newham Marathon...as a relay team! Faster than a firing neuron, we'll be running a course around London (which includes the actual Olympic Stadium) to raise money for the incredible, brainy charity The Stroke Association. (And also a little bit so that we had an excuse to use the outstandingly punny and neuro-nerdy team name we came up with: The Action Potentials! Neuroscience friends: we know you just laughed.)
Stroke is the 4th biggest killer in the UK.
However, the money we raise doesn't just go into research that could help reduce this statistic. It goes towards the crucial help and support that stroke survivors need to recover from the devastating effects they have suffered.
Whether you know someone personally who has suffered from a stroke, or if you just want to show us some support as a fellow brain-owner (because let's face it, if you've got a brain it could happen to you) - we'd really appreciate anything you can give to help this fantastic charity. No contribution is too small (we know how it is, we're poor students, after all). Pennies, £1 or just spreading the word in whatever way you want - ANYTHING GOES! :)
