UPDATE 20/04/2022
It is with great sadness that I write on behalf of Viv's family to share that Viv passed away peacefully on Friday 15th April. I know she was truly grateful for your support and kind donations to The Brain Tumour Charity.
UPDATE : For all those who are braving the Big Lido Swim tomorrow (Saturday 12th March) please arrive just before 2pm at London Fields Lido (London Fields West Side, London, England E8 3EU) to support Viv Barret and family launch the event! Can I also, on behalf of Viv and her family, thank all those who have made a generous donation! This page will stay open a while for more donations to come in...
Viv is 63 years old, She was diagnosed with one of the most aggressive tumours, Glioblastoma Brain Tumour (GBM) in November 2021. Her prognosis not good and has limited time, her family and friends are extremely devastated, but want very much to turn this negative into a positive.
Prior to the diagnosis Viv had agreed with her friend Kathryn Marshall to swim in the 100 Lidos across UK over the next three years as a New Years resolution. This will now not be possible. Viv suggested to continue this resolution and instead organise a Charity Swim to raise much needed money for the Brain Tumour Charity. Our aim is for 100 people to swim one length of London Fields Lido to represent the 100 Lidos across UK and raise our target amount £10,000 on the 12th March 2022 at 2pm.
