Story
On the 14th June myself, Steve Cremer and Jon Bass are planning to cycle from Weston Hospicecare to Lands End in a day/24 hour period.
The final route is still in the planning stage, but we estimate the distance will be somewhere around 200 miles.
So I hear you ask why?...... In 2007 I lost my Mum at the age of 53 to cancer and in the same year a friend, Ben Whitwell, lost his Dad Mike at the age of 59 to cancer.
Both Mike and my Mum were cared for by Weston Hospicecare, they not only made the last weeks and days of Mum and Mike’s life’s comfortable, they also provided our families with much more in the way of advice and support in the aftermath of our respective losses.
Receiving an end-of-life diagnosis can be difficult, not just for the patient but also for their loved ones. At Weston Hospicecare, our team of palliative care experts is dedicated to working together to provide specialist support. Our social, emotional, psychological, spiritual and physical care helps guide people through one of the most difficult experiences they will ever face. With only 20% of our funding coming from the NHS, we have to raise £4 million each year to fund our care - something that's only made possible by our community.
