Story
“The best rides are the ones where you bite off much more than you can chew, and live through it." (Doug Bradbury).
Thanks for the insight Doug !! In 2013 the Richardson brothers have committed to huge bites, time will tell on the rest !!
The drive behind our pain, suffering, fatigue, soreness, thousands of training miles, sleepless, very dark nights pedalling bicycles, on epic cycling endurance events, is to raise as much money as possible for the fantastic charity – ‘Cyclists Fighting Cancer’. Please take a couple of minutes to read their stories and you’ll understand why. http://cyclistsfc.org.uk/
So what are we going to do ? From our bases, Derek in Indianapolis-USA, Gavin in Yorkshire-England, we’ve committed to a multitude of endurance cycling events. June sees Gavin doing the ‘SuperHeroes 150’ mile ride in Stratford, England.
Two weeks later Derek crosses the pond to combine with Gavin riding through the night covering the 300km of ‘The Vatternrundan’ in Sweden.
Derek’s second transatlantic trip is in July when we’ll be tackling the brutal ‘L2P24’, pedalling the 280 miles between London and Paris in less than 19 hours of road time. Gavin flies Mid-West in September to share a 300 mile weekend on the MS Series.
Each of these events are very tough challenges in their own right. For Gavin it will be a 'bigger' year than ever before. For Derek, well ha !!, 2013 will be his first full year of cycling ever. Nice induction !!!
And there’s already quite a few further events pencilled in our calendars and with many thousands of training miles required, it’s going to be quite a year.
