Story

WaterAid - 2008 Mountain Walk Challenge

In association with Severn Trent, WaterAid gives us the opportunity to help some of the worlds poorest people take the first steps out of crushing poverty by providing access to a safe, clean and dependable water supply.  This is what WaterAid does - they are a charity that is dedicated to the provision of safe domestic water, sanitation and hygiene education to the world's poorest people. They work in 17 countries in Africa,Asia and the Pacific region and to ensure the benefits of their projects last long into the future, they work through local organisations using low-cost technologies that are easy to operate and maintain.

It would be absolutely fantastic if you could help our cause and provide us with a motivation boost to get us over the finish line! So please dig deep and sponsor us now online.

As an example of how your money will be used:

£5         could pay for a bag of cement to build a latrine slab in Ghana.

£15       is enough to give one person a lasting supply of safe water, sanitation and hygiene education.

£25       could pay for a mason to protect a spring in Uganda.

£50       is enough for two days of hygiene education training in a village in Tanzania.

£100     could pay a mason to build a hand-dug well in Nigeria.

£150     could pay to train two community members to maintain their village

            water supplies in Ethiopia.

£200     could buy a locally built rope pump in Mozambique.

£385     could pay for a school sanitation block for 150 boys and girls in India.

Donation through this site is totally secure, simple and fast.It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: WaterAid will receive your donation faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Thank you for your support,

NEWS

Sunday 08.06.08 :  The third and last training session of The Crawling Stones took place in Rutland Water where they had to brave the burning sun and the beautiful landscapes. The distance was around 23-24 miles around the lake (including the peninsula) achieved in 8 hours.

Friday 13.06.08 : We have reached £500!! A great achievement but still far from the target, this money will be used in the building of a world where everybody has access to clean and potable water, so don't hesitate and start being part of it.

Monday 30.06.08 : A big thank you to Ian Armitage who provided the walking personalised shirts at an amazing price.

Wednesday 02.06.08 : We have raised £700. Thanks again to everyone who has donated, we have almost reached the half way point of our target.
