Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In 2017 Pip (the deaf one) Me, (the daft one) and Connie, (the ditsy one) travelled nearly 300m across 14 of the Outer Hebridean Islands in Scotland. During the trip and in giving talks and selling books (£5 if anyone wants one, just send me a message via my FB page; The Deaf, the Daft and the Ditsy) we have raised over £8300 for animal charities. It was an amazing experience and Connie, whose behaviour had been challenging, completely changed and she remains a dream to work with. I have a target of £10,000 to reach, so this is my next adventure.

Connie is very well and enjoying life with me and the rest of her furry friends near Dunkeld, Perthshire. In 2018 I bought a Spanish Mustang as a second horse and to alternate as a riding horse/pack pony for longer trips. Unfortunately he was mis-sold and it became apparent over the next 8 months or so, that he had been in NUMEROUS homes, returned to trainers time and time again, had put a young girl in hospital etc... He bit, he kicked, he tried to kill poor Pip a couple of times, you couldn't pick out his feet without an argument or kick, if you led him he barged you or pinned you to a gate and riding was an adventure of rodeo style broncing...or simply refusing to move...or everything in between! He made Connie's previous behaviour look exceptionally mild!

It's been a whirlwind 3 years with him, I've had a couple of nasty kicks, a broken heel and numerous bruises. Thankfully with the help of an amazing behaviorist, his ground work (i.e.not riding him) has greatly improved and he is fun to work with and a complete dork, hence the name of our trip! (he loves nothing better than stealing things, breaking thing, picking things up in his mouth, pawing things...just general dorky things!) His ridden work remains a bit of a gamble and therefore I plan to walk with Monty...and of course dear Pip dog in the hope that it may resolve some of his remaining behaviour issues.

Soooooooooo the three of us are planning the walk one of Scotland's Great Trails, the Catern Trail! It's just over 100km and Monty will carry all of our equipment and I will walk him and Pip. We plan to do over 5 days and will be wild camping each night by sleeping under the stars.

It would mean A LOT to us if you could donate, however small, to our worthy cause. Please also share via social media and pass onto who every you think could help promote our fundraising or make a donation.

To follow our adventure I'll be posting on my main Facebook page; The Deaf, the Daft and the Disty.
