Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

At the end of 2017 my mother was diagnosed with Parkinson's, it was a day I will never forget. When someone you love is diagnosed with a life changing condition, especially a person as loving and as caring as my mum, the entire family is left feeling extremely angry, anxious, worried and scared for whats to come, filled with questions about the future, what to expect and who to turn to for support.

My mum has always been the rock to so many people but now she needs help and thats where Parkinson's UK and The First Steps Program come in. A diagnosis of Parkinson's can be life changing for the entire support network whether it be making changes to routine, employment or treatment.

Since diagnosis Parkinson's UK have been fantastic, they have helped my mum and us as a family over and over again from advice to putting us in touch with the right people to helping us fill in forms and connecting with other people in the same position. A few months after diagnosis we where put in touch with The First Steps Program, this is a project born out of Oxford University by a group of people with Parkinson's who's aim is to give recently diagnosed people and loves ones the chance to find out any information they need and the chance to ask any questions they have. The 2 day course was absolutely fantastic and has steer headed the way we as a family have and still do tackle the condition, the information we where able to obtain changed the outlook from fear to determination.

The First steps program along with Parkinson's UK are a self funded organisation, on average just Parkinson's UK alone needs £70,000 a day to keep operating, its up to us to keep them going and my aim is to raise as much money as I can for them, in the hope that The First Steps Program can be rolled out nationwide to everyone and that Parkinson's UK can find a cure so that no-one has to be scared anymore. And we WILL get there.

So what am I going to be doing...... well.....last year  I sat down with some friends and my mum and decided to make a team called The Determinators, this team of people have all been fundraising for Parkinson's.

Throughout all the events last year I covered over 2000 miles, climbed the equivalent of Everest 2.5 times all not including the training. Collectively the team raised over £5000 which is a fantastic start but it's only the start. Can we beat our total this year??? With your help we can 😁

My plan is to cycle a few races throughout the year, and as always a punishment to the legs, il be at shops doing cyclathons, pot collections, quizzes, cake stalls, you name it

My aim is raise as much money as I can

Equally if you would like to help me raise money doing your own thing or have an idea for me then please get in touch.

Please dig deep and donate as much as you can and help make Parkinson's a thing of the past

Thank you
