Great North Run 2022 · 11 September 2022 ·
Thanks for visiting my page. As many of you are aware, I very sadly and very suddenly lost my dad, Andrew Grant, on the 28th June 2022 due to a heart attack. Something that struck us as a family without any of us even knowing he was at risk or any warning.
Now you all must be aware that anyone, anywhere can suffer as suddenly as my dad, and please do everything you can to keep yourself healthy and happy. The BHF website has some brilliant health tips and information.
Now I was originally running for the BHF because they have helped my Fiancé, but now this is even more important and I will be running for my dad too.
My fiancé was given the support she needed when she didn’t understand what her heart condition diagnosis meant for her, and she has been given the ability to live a relatively normal life with their support, cutting edge research and ongoing trials into all heart conditions and how they can combat these.
She is one of the lucky ones that hasn’t had to have major surgery, but this is never guaranteed, one day, she may need to, but with their ongoing research, funding and clinical trials she is always one step ahead of going under the knife :)
Sadly not everyone is as lucky as her, and every day hundreds of people lose their lives.
7.6 million people are living with heart and circulatory diseases, and It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures to keep their hearts beating strong.
£24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every single pound helps and it all adds up.
Every 3 minutes someone in the UK dies from a heart or circulatory disease, so please give what you can to help me hit my target - Let’s end heartbreak together, forever.
To Andrew, my dad. I love you & miss you.
