Story

Hi I am Sam - and I am a meat eater!

There I said it - I eat meat! Have done for most of my life, and I won't lie, I love the taste of it.

But that one small fact does not define me. Because I am also an animal lover who hates any form of animal cruelty. I cannot...CANNOT...understand why anyone would want to hurt or abandon another living creature - be it large, small, furry, scaled, winged, finned, two legged, four legged, or even 100 legged (heres looking at you centipedes!). And thus my conundrum is born - how can I eat meat, and still say I am a supporter of kindness to animals?!

It no longer sits well on my conscious.

SO - this is my personal challenge to myself. Starting on Monday 28th May, I am going to cut out all meat from my diet for 30 days, as well as all produce obtained from animals bred for our consumption.

Anyone who knows me, will know that this is not going to be an easy undertaking for me (I love steak - LOVE it!), so I plan on documenting each day of the challenge, with videos & photos showing the meals I am eating, and the effect the change has on my overall health & mood. This is a new and exciting journey for me, and I hope to try and help others who are considering taking that leap off the meat-eating bridge.

Whilst doing this challenge, I am hoping to raise money for a local animal sanctury that is close to both mine and my family's hearts - BLEAKHOLT ANIMAL SANCTURY.  They do amazing work taking in adandoned animals of all shapes and sizes, and the level of care that they provide for their "guests" is second to none. Myself and my family have adopted 3 cats from this sanctury over the years, and would never have got to know and love their wee fury souls had it not been for this charity.

So please, if you know me - or hell, even if you don't - please consider donating towards my wee campaign to raise money for this amazing animal sanctury. And in return, I will let you laugh at my (probably haphazard, but definitely commited) journey into the world of a meat-free diet with daily updates and videos.

HURGH - we can do this!

(FYI - the picture on my Justgiving page is of my wee pup, Harley. She is not a rescue dog, but I sleep easier at night knowing that places like BleakHolt are out there should she had ever needed their help!)
