There was a thought that it might be an idea to cycle to Galway for the film fleadh and an even better idea to do it for charity, so a number of us who go to the Fleadh on a regular enough basis decided that this year we would do just that. So bright and early on the morning of Friday July 12th at 6:30am we will set out from Lucan to cover the 200km it will take to get to the Town Hall. Hopefully we’ll make it by 6pm. Just to make this a little more worthwhile it would be great if people felt our endeavours are deserved of a donation so please do donate if you can. The charity we’re doing it for is Fighting Words.

The opportunity to tell your own story is so important and it is never too early to give children the confidence of self-expression and creative writing. Experiencing something through the eyes, ears and thoughts of someone else is what has always excited us about film and television, and this only ever starts with a story written or told by someone.

Fighting Words is a fantastic organisation that provides the opportunity for young people to express themselves through creative writing and to have fun while doing it. Fighting Words helps students of all ages to develop their writing skills and to explore their love of writing. Fighting Words provide story-telling workshops for primary school groups, creative writing workshops for secondary students, summer camps for kids and teens and workshops for groups of adults with special needs. All tutoring is free. Supporting Fighting Words is support for the imaginations and creativity of children, young people and those with special needs all over Ireland.
