China Challenge 2010 · 23 October 2010

We are the UK’s leading fostering charity and the essential network for fostering. We support foster carers, fostering services and the wider sector to transform children’s lives. We work to ensure all fostered children and young people get the best possible care and experience stable family life.

Story

Please support this intrepid team of 30 foster carers, their friends and family, and staff members from the Fostering Network who have come together to take on an important challenge.

They are trekking along some of the most scenic and most remote stretches of the , passing through woodland and into the mountains. With hours of walking each day and many stone steps before them, the trek will certainly be physically demanding.

Over the last year they have also been fundraising tirelessly and have already achieved a fantastic total.

Foster carers are currently looking after around 57,000 children: the majority of children in care.  We know that when foster care works it works really well. But with a continual rise in the number of children needing foster homes and a shortage of foster carers, there is a huge pressure on the system. At a time when budgets are being cut at central and local level our society’s most vulnerable children truly are at risk.

Please help the team reach their target and have a huge impact on what the Fostering Network can do for children in care at this crucial time.

Thank you
