London to Brighton Off-Road Bike Ride 2021 · 4 September 2021 ·

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

In September, Rhianna and I will be cycling from London to Brighton entirely off road. We are ill prepared and anticipating very sore fannies (not easy to train with two tiny, needy humans). We are hoping enthusiasm and the prospect of a cold pint at the end will be enough to get us through. However, any donations would be gratefully received and an added incentive.

In all seriousness, we are hoping to raise some money for the British Heart Foundation in memory of my late stepdad Roy. Roy was a wonderful man. We may not always have seen eye to eye (does any teenager get on with their stepparent?) but Roy was always there when I needed him. I will remember him as a kind, patient soul, who always had 100 projects on the go (and rarely finished any of them). And I will be forever grateful for the happiness he brought to my mum. So, the least I could do is try to cycle 60+ miles to raise some money in his memory right?

The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
