We are two friends who decided to do some charity work. We are fundraising for an event in the summer, which will hopefully raise £20,000 or more for Thomley Activity Centre. Thomley is a recreational facility for disabled children, their families and friends based in Worminghall, on the boarders of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
In the last two weeks of August 2009, we are aiming to run 12 marathons in 13 days, with only one rest day!! We know that this is a massive challenge and we could easily not make it, however we are determined to complete it and meet our target of £20,000 for Thomley.
Thomley Activity Centre caters for the needs of disabled children, aged 0-16years, and their families. The centre provides a safe and accessible environment in which disabled and non-disabled children can play together, join in all kinds of activities, meet new friends and generally have fun.
Having visited the centre, we were able to see exactly how this small charity would benefit from our support. We have therefore decided that all the money we raise will go to their charity. Through your giving, we can help Thomley in the following ways:
£100 could buy art & craft materials for up to 300 children a week
£500 could run 2 sensory or creative workshops for 120 children
£10,000 could support 660 visits by children in a school holiday
£20,000 could build a new, more accessible toilet & shower room
... so please give generously.
