The great Welsh North to South

The great Welsh North to South · 19 April 2015
In 2014 we did the National Three Peak’s challenge for charity, this year we are doing something a bit more challenging!
Who's taking part:
Beth Trubshaw, (Dog Name) 'Bertie'
Rhiannon Rhichards, (Dog Name) 'Mali'
James Davies, (Dog Name) 'Big Red', 'Penny', 'Chip', 'Milo' and 'Minnie'
Over six days we will be walking the 'Offas’s Dyke' route from Prestatyn in North Wales to Sedbury Cliffs in Chepstow, South Wales. In total we will be walking 176 miles in six days (normally 12-16 days) averaging 30 miles a day and 34 on the last day, more if we get lost! The route is encased in history and the origins go back to Offa the King of Mercia from 757 to 796 AD and Offa’s Dyke route roughly followed the Welsh/English boundary. Originally it was about 27 metres wide and 8 metres deep and some of the original dimensions are still traceable. We will be following this historic route which is challenging, undulating terrain for many parts of it from North Wales taking in the Clwydian Hills, and travelling through Shropshire passing though Vale of Llangollen and Severn Valley to Oswestry. From here we will walk through the Radnor Hills to Hay-on-Wye down to Monmouth and the Black Mountains, before moving through the Wye Valley and finishing in Chepstow. This will be one epic challenge for dogs and humans alike!
