We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

On the 26th March 2019, our dear friend Paul Connell tragically took his own life. He was a man with a huge personality and brought warmth and happiness into the lives of everyone he met and knew.

Mental health issues, particularly in males, have reached alarming levels in recent years. Unfortunately, despite a gradual increase in awareness, there is still a huge personal and social stigma surrounding the multitude of issues that men are now suffering from in significant numbers.

From September 2019 to February 2020, Gary 'Goals' Byatt, Freek Van Der Velden, Ian Powell, Sholto Torr, Jason Lincoln and Jordy Johnson of the Hanoi Capitals Football Club will be participating in several half-marathons in the northern region of Vietnam. The confirmed schedule is as follows:

Sapa Mountain Marathon - 22nd September

Hanoi Heritage Marathon - 20th October

Long Bien Marathon - 27th October

Ha Long Bay Marathon - 24th November

Moc Chau Trail Marathon - 11th January

It will be a gruelling yet extremely exciting and rewarding five months that we hope will culminate in the raising of vital donations for CALM.

CALM is a charitable organisation and is leading a movement against male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. You can read more about CALM here:

Our target is £2000 so we hope, if you are reading this, you can help us reach our goals and join us on our journey towards giving men the vital mental and emotional support they need.

Thank you for reading.
