Dan Piper: The Healthy Diabetic

London Marathon 2018 · 22 April 2018 ·
Thank you so much first and foremost for your support and for taking the time to visit my fundraising page for JDRF UK.
In November 2011 I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, an incurable auto-immune condition, that affects me and millions of other peoples lives around the world. It can be a very difficult condition to live with and can affect anyone of any age, race, background and/ or lifestyle choice.
The side effects range from mild & temporary, to permanent, life-altering & potentially fatal. It requires constant round the clock self-care and monitoring, through glucose testing and multiple daily insulin injections in order to live a healthy & somewhat normal life.
Since my diagnosis, I have always been determined to prove that diabetes shouldn't hold anyone back. I've seen it effect my Grandfather and my Dad and I've drawn huge inspiration from them and their efforts, and this is one of the biggest reasons why I wanted to run on behalf of a diabetic charity, and especially, JDRF UK.
JDRF UK are committed to eradicating Type 1 Diabetes and its effects for everyone in the UK with Type 1 and at risk of developing it by funding world class research that directly benefits Type 1 diabetics and providing support, advice and a voice for those living with the condition.
This undoubtedly will be my biggest and hardest challenge to date and one I would be immensely appreciative of if you could support me with in any way. Any donation, big or small, will go a long way to reaching my target!
Thank you very much!
Dan
