Story

‘Women Having Words’ is a virtual book launch, with me, Joanne Barker, the author of The Joy of Jars, in conversation with fabulous women who write and talk about female life experiences.

I'll be joined by Dr Kate Lister, 'blonde bomb site, university lecturer, owner of @WhoresofYore and author of A Curious History of Sex’, Faye Dawson, ‘communications consultant, rather fabulous copywriter, sketcher, gabber. interviewer and writer for Projecting Grief’, Emma Morgan, ‘woman, mother, sometimes amusing and host of The Crazy Ex Club podcast’ and Aisha Iqbal Khan, talking girl power in the context of Muslim heritage women and the need for them to reclaim their narrative.

The event will mark the official (self) publication of The Joy of Jars, a fictionalised, funny account of my life as a VERY single mum. In the first year the book will be raising funds for Gingerbread, the leading national charity working with single parent families.

Gingerbread provides expert advice and practical support and campaigns for single mums and dads.
