Southend Bikeathon 2014 · 7 September 2014 ·

We're dedicated to beating blood cancer. We fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Story

The first time I took part in the Southend Bikeathon for Leukaemia and Lymphoma research was eleven years ago on September 7th. At that time, my Mum's love and support helped to see me complete the course and soar over the finish line of my very first bikeathon.

My Mum was a very generous and loving lady. Ten years ago, I lost her to cancer.

In more recent years, with love, support, and encouragement (especially from my drill sergeant/trainer) and friends, I have been participating in this event annually. I do so to commemorate my Mum, and to help fund research that helps many other families affected by this disease.

I dedicate this year's ride to the memory of my Mum. :) Xoxo

As I train to cycle for this cause once again, I thank you, supporters, for helping me to help others by donating what you can.
