Marathon des Sables, or MdS, (French for Marathon of the Sands, also known as Sahara Marathon) is a six-day, 251 km (156 mi) ultramarathon, which is approximately the distance of six regular marathons. The longest single stage (2009) is 91 km (57 mi) long.

I'm raising money for Childrens Hospice South West because of the support they provide to my godson Jake (the_life_of_jakey), his parents Claire and Jamie and the numerous other families like them. 

They provide hospice care for children with life-limiting conditions and their whole family. Respite and short breaks, emergency care, palliative care and end of life care at three wonderful childrens hospices; Little Bridge house in Devon, Charlton Farm in Somerset and Little Harbour in Cornwall, which is the hospice that Jake goes too.
