The Stirling Scottish Marathon · 15 May 2022

Our aim is to provide real time support & a place of safety for anyone (age 12+) who is experiencing thoughts of self harm, suicide or any form of emotional distress. We also offer a 'whole family support' model to ensure a network of support is created and maintained.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I hope you enjoy following me on my training toward my goal and if you are willing and able to, a donation is most welcome

Now that the Stirling Scottish Marathon is cancelled, plans have changed. I will now be running the Loch Leven Half Marathon TWICE on Saturday 14th May in aid of The Lighthouse for Perth. A non-profit charity who ‘offer crisis support to anyone who is at risk with their mental health’

On this same week (9-15th May) The Mental Health Foundation is running its 21st Mental Health Awareness Week on the topic of Lonliness which we have all experienced in some way shape or form during the pandemic.

I want to show the benefit that exercise has on mental wellbeing and also to engage and encourage others in trying to exercise more.

I have one other milestone which is the half way point in my training. This is on Sunday 20th March when I will be running the Alloa Half Marathon.

Since 2013 the UN has celebrated the 20th March as International Day of Happiness.

The Lighthouse for Perth is a local non-profit service offering crisis support for anyone aged 12+ who is at risk of self-harm or suicide.
We offer crisis support to anyone who is at risk with their mental health. This includes those who are at risk of suicide or self-injury, or those who find themselves in emotional distress or crisis.

The Lighthouse for Perth is a safe space for all. This means all of our staff and volunteers are committed to establishing a welcoming, non-judgemental approach for anyone with suicide or self-harming behaviours.

You can reach our freephone crisis line on 0800 121 4820, Facebook messenger or email help@lighthouseforperth.org.
