Story
Matt and Tom are running the Manchester 10k on Sunday 19th May to raise vital funds for The Mighty Quinn. For those of you that know us, our love of sport rarely extends beyond beers at Ewood or Windsor Park, but this is a cause that couldn't be closer to our hearts!
Quinn is the beautiful two year old daughter of our best friends Scott and Leanne. Unfortunately Quinn was born 15 weeks premature weighing less that 2lbs, and so has faced an unbelievable battle everyday of her short life, including spending the first nine months in the NICU.
As a result of her early arrival, Quinn has a brain injury that is caused by a lack of oxygen as well as bleeds, a cyst and a brightness on the brain.
Quinn was also born without a gag reflex and therefore has an unsafe swallow. It means Quinn has to be linked up to a feed 13 hours a day, the tube goes into her nose and down into her small intestine. It can be uncomfortable, so she tends to pull it out a lot which means a trip to A&E for an x-ray to make sure its back in the intestine and not into the stomach which carries high risk of getting pneumonia / chest infections. As we write this Quinn has been back in hospital for a week for exactly this reason.
Quinn also has chronic lung disease and needs a ventilator every night. She has low tone in my arms and torso, meaning basic mobility is a challenge.
We now have an opportunity to help Quinn participate in some stem cell treatment in Panama, so we want to raise as much money as possible!
Every penny counts, so thank you for your support!
