The Manchester Evening News has launched a major new campaign to raise funds for Broughton House care home for veterans in Salford.

Quietly and without fanfare, the home has been looking after our heroes for more than 100 years. Now it needs your help.

We hope to reach fundraising milestones with your help along the way - set at £30,000. The ultimate aim will be to reach £1m

Broughton House opened in 1916 - the result of an appeal to the public of Manchester for money. Hospitals were overflowing with soldiers returning from the Western Front during the First World War. An urgent hunt for new accommodation was launched and Broughton House, an old tradesman’s mansion, was identified. It has been caring for those who have risked their lives to keep us safe ever since.

Broughton House is about to be transformed into a £14m care village for veterans of all ages and conflicts. Our Million Pound Salute campaign aims to help make the vision become a reality. Please help if you can. Thank you.
