We raise funds for children's healthcare to help children from the South of England

Story

Fresh from conquering the 4,550m summit of Ras Dashen in 2019, quadruple amputee Alex Lewis, project founder David Collinson and the rest of the Wild Wheelchairs team will be undertaking their next expedition in 2022 - The Namib 500! Alex will aim to handcycle over 500km through the Namib Desert and the Skeleton Coast over 10 days in July 2022.

This incredible adventure will only be be made possible through the University of Southampton students and staff building an all new, solar powered, desert ready hand-cycle capable of being powered, driven and steered by Alex. We are raising money for the Murray Parish Trust, which is dedicated to improving the emergency treatment of children suffering from trauma, illness and injury across the South of England

About the charity

Founded by actors Sarah Parish and Jim Murray in memory of their late daughter Ella-Jayne, we support projects at Southampton Children’s Hospital which advance and enhance children’s healthcare, including mental health, beyond that which is possible through NHS funding.
