Nepal Earthquake Appeal · 29 April 2015

Children4ChildrenNepal (C4CN) was founded in 2012 to work with local partners in Nepal to combat trafficking and assist vulnerable and disadvantaged children. Originally called Freedom Matters, in the last 7 years we have: worked with partners combating trafficking and assisting those affected by it; delivered immediate earthquake relief and provided counselling and support to families and communities following its devastating effects. C4CN works in Nepal with a local partner, Right 4 Children, a Nepalese charity based in Pokhara, working on projects with the most vulnerable sections of society. These projects are providing training in the service industries and helping youths find jobs to support themselves and their families. We are also working with the Nepalese Government in schools to help improve the experience of school life through sports, arts drama and other projects. We are a small, cost-effective NGO managed by trustees who strongly believe that providing improved education and training opportunities for underprivileged children, young people, families and communities, helps to contribute to a safer environment, which is free from child labour, abuse and trafficking.

Story

On Saturday 25 April, Nepal was struck by a 7.9 Magnitude earthquake followed by a series of devastating aftershocks. The earthquake has affected many parts of Nepal mainly the central region including Kathmandu, Gorkha, Lamjung, Dhading, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Sindhuli, Sindhuli, Bhaktapur, Patan and Manang. At the latest count 5,000 lives have been lost and it is feared that the final number will be over 10,000. Many people remain unaccounted for and thousands have lost their homes.
We are inviting donations to aid the disaster hit regions and FSI will be working with trusted partner charities and NGO’s including Freedom Matters, Right4Chidren, The Bulldog Trust and the Pahar Trust to ensure that the relief effort is effectively targeted and that the money gets to where it is most needed.
