Story

First of all, thanks for visiting my just-giving page. I will just take a few minutes of your time to quickly explain my reasoning for climbing mount Kilimanjaro on behalf of The Titan Children's Trust (TTCT) and The Derbyshire Children's Holiday Centre (DCHC)

I have decided to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in September because it is time I give something back to the charity my dad, Felix (also climbing Mt. Kili) recently set up. The charity aims to raise money in order to provide underprivileged children with day-to-day support but also more than that, it aims to get them involved with recreation and sport.

Now this is where I want to help. I am a long-time sufferer with anxiety and at times this anxiety can escalate and turn very sour. I also know how many people this affects. 1 in 5 young people suffer with this same condition. Fortunately, I have a very strong group of people around me to help during these times. However, not only are these underprivileged children / young adults suffering with similar conditions, they are tackling them alone. This is where support, recreation and sport become so invaluable and thus where The Titan Children's Trust gets involved.

TTCT also feels that the impact sport can have on these children is invaluable in teaching them life lessons that will help with their day-to-day lives. My dad specifically vouching for what sport and in particular football did for him as a teenager in terms of providing him with discipline and goals.

TTCT also works in conjunction with DCHC which is a charity established in 1891 to provide Derbyshire children having troubles in their home lives with a holiday in Skegness, Lincolnshire. At the present time it provides 450 holiday places per season.

Now I know I only have 5 and a half weeks until I climb Kili, but the opportunity arose to climb it with my dad and I just couldn't turn it down. So please please give generously and I will aim to put on a few fundraisers between now and September the 14th.

Thank you again for your time.
