Leeds Mind promotes positive mental health and wellbeing, and provides support and help to those who need it. 1 in 4 people experience mental health difficulties at some point in their lives. Leeds Mind are here for you if you are struggling with a negative mental health experience.

Story

UPDATE: So, I reduced the target to £100, because, due to Coronavirus situation, I haven't been able to perform any of the liveshows, streams or other events I had in mind to raise money for Leeds Mind. To say I am gutted is an understatement.

Also, unfortunately because of this, my own personal situation has got worse, and I am unable to afford to give anything myself as well, as I was including money made from music sales.

This has been a devastating year for so many people, and I wish I could have done more to help, but this is no longer possible.
The last donation rounded it up to £100, which, including Gift Aid, makes it £125. It's not anywhere near as substantial as I would have liked, but, at least it's something. Thanks for those who looked at the page and donated. You're lovely people.

Below is the original text anyway, just so that Leeds Mind's information is there in case anybody comes across this page.

LEEDS MIND covers a broad spread of services, related to improving mental health, helping people through suicidal thoughts and bereavement, teaching and creating safe spaces for artists and musicians to learn, create, perform and improve their quality of life (Inkwell, Men'd, Converge, SBS are more are all part of the Leeds Mind services).

Why this charity?

This is the first time I've ever set anything like this up myself. I have done a few things to raise money for already running stuff, but, thought I'd give this a try, so, fingers crossed it can go well.

I have lived in Leeds all my life, and I wanted to do something to help the more localised area to begin with, before looking at more ways I can raise money on a broader scale later in my life, so, that's why I am starting closer to home.

I know a lot of people over the years who have used and benefitted greatly from the variety of services that Leeds Mind offer, and they are there, be it for counselling if you are struggling with anything and it's the first time you have made the massive brave and wonderful step to talk about it to someone, right through to dealing with suicide bereavement, how to be creative in your life to help you through and many more ways.

I have spent most of my life dealing with and managing severe and sometimes manic depression, the extreme highs and lows that come with it, the mental desperation and the physically debilitating effects it can have. Along with it comes anxiety, paranoias, irrational and noisy, overwhelming thoughts that can last for days and weeks on end, overtaking your life.

Some days, sufferers of this illness can go out and do 'normal' things, but then can have days where even getting out of bed to get water or go to the toilet or making food seem like monumental tasks, and it is hard to know when those times will floor you.

Please, always talk about your problems, with someone. It's hard to say the first words asking for help, but I guarantee you, it will get easier from that moment onwards.

They offer help in encouraging Arts, Music, Drama, Sports, Job Seeking and more for those who often struggle because of the illness. They offer many workshops, courses and sessions.

Please have a look at all their services. There is so much that Leeds Mind helps with, and, honestly, I am in awe of what they do for people, so, I would like to try and help them continue and expand on any of these...
