June 2021 Update
Hello all - we wanted to let you know that sadly the Peak District Mighty Hike has been cancelled this year (as it was last year) due to pressure on the park from extra visitors. We were given options to postpone for another year or join another hike. After a long chat with dad we have decided to walk our own marathons (another option given to us by the Macmillan Mighty Hike team). Dad is 77 and worries about postponing for another year and the fact that we have held onto your kind donations for so long now. He was so keen he has already walked a marathon with my 16 year old nephew around Stamford - verified by phone data by the Mighty Hike team. So now its just down to me. Part of the reason for doing this walk in the Peak District was because it was where mum walked in her youth and partly it was to walk with dad. Taking everything into consideration I have decided to walk along the Lincolnshire coast 26 miles 385 yards this summer. Date tbc. It's where mum lived and she loved the sea. In our youth we walked the Skegness to Boston sea bank marathon with mum and dad. I will confirm the start but the aim is to finish at the house where mum lived and died in Skegness. This way friends and family can join me along the route, I can even stop for a sneaky sea swim and it will have more meaning for me than joining one of the other Mighty Hikes taking place this year. I hope that this will satisfy in our promise to walk a marathon and that you are happy to continue with your lovely donations. Thank you. Edward and Chloe

The Mighty Hike seems fitting as our wife/mum Connie died in September 2019. The Macmillan nurses were amazing and Connie was so thankful for them. Connie was born in Buxton and the Peak District was her old stomping ground so it seemed just the right fit. Dad and I used to walk marathons together in our youth so we are very excited to try again with some Mighty Hiking. Anything you can spare to the cause would be wonderful. Thank you.
