Story

We've been dreaming…

Omnide in partnership with
The Rajasthani Foundation and IMA Foundation   is proudly supporting the development of the Sona Manovikas Kendra   for mentally challenged children in Bhilwara in Rajasthan, India and to give them a future that would otherwise be neglected.

Run by the “Sona Viklang Punervas Avom Sodh Sansthan" Institute since 1996 and is the only school in Bhilwara District to empower it's special duties. Presently 65 students get free education, training, physiotherapy and speech therapy. Every year more than 50 non-admitted children benefit through a special “Home-Based” program.

The school has the opportunity to host more children but in order to do this requires to build more dormitories for it's teachers.

Why we do it:

Our aim is to build a better future for mentally challenged children by giving them the opportunity of learning and overcoming their disability with the help of skilled teachers.

Currently, the children live on the street or at home without the possibility of engaging with others and the space around them.

To help them we are raising funds to increase the size of the Sona Manovikas Kendra School in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, India so that more teachers can be hired and children can escape from staying on the street.

How we help:

Omnide, an architecture firm in London will donate its design services to the project and support the school’s construction through input and specialist advice. The funds raised will be dispersed and monitored in India by our UK charity partner -  The Rajasthani Foundation

How you can help:

You are able to help these children in two ways: by participating in the sale of artwork by award-winning Indian artists supported by the
IMA Foundation  and Harshita Lohia and through online donations on this page.

The art sale will be held on Wednesday 3rd July and hosted at Omnide++, London, open until the 24th of July.

The success of the charity event will allow us to help the school.

What we can achieve together:

By enhancing the capabilities of the school we will be able to work towards reducing the social stigma faced by these children and provide them with greater self-confidence and the chance of a better future - being independent and self-supporting.

How we will use the funds:

The target funds is set at £30,000

  • The first £15,000 will be used in phase 1 to build the teachers dormitory.
  • The remaining £15,000 will be used in phase 2 to extend the existing school with more schoolrooms for more children and to add solar panels on the roof to virtually get rid of all the energy cost for the complex
  • The start of the construction works is planned for September 2019 with a 9 months time frame to complete phase 1.  Phase 2 is planned to start in September 2020
