Great North Run 2021 · 12 September 2021 ·

Welcome to #TeamAlzScot! Together we can make sure nobody faces dementia alone.

Story

I started running in November 2019 after deciding enough was enough at 17 stone. Each month I’m pushing myself beyond anything I thought I was capable of. 100m turned into weekly 5K ParkRuns at Camperdown Dundee or Montrose. That 5k achievement has now become a half marathon target and I am Proud to say I am running the Great North Run 2020 for Alzheimer Scotland to help them ensure that nobody faces dementia alone! Estimates put the number of people living with dementia in Scotland at over 90,000 and it is predicted that this number will continue to significantly increase in the coming years. Sadly, there is no current cure for dementia and only a few forms of drug treatments are available, that is why Alzheimer Scotland aim to provide as much support as possible to people living with dementia, and their families and carers. Alzheimer Scotland offers care, information and support to people with dementia and carers in Scotland. Their services include a 24 hour Freephone Dementia Helpline (0808 808 3000), Dementia Advisors, Dementia Nurses and medical research. Thank you for your support, it is greatly valued and very much appreciated. You can follow my journey on my running blog on Facebook at @trkevigisrunning

Thank you for all your love and support.
