The Tom Clarke Foundation has been set up for the public benefit and relief of those who are suffering or who have suffered with Cancer, Crohn’s & Colitis and who may require Hospice care who reside permanently or temporarily in the United Kingdom. “We would like to try and raise as much money as possible supporting the types of charities that Tom was keen to support. Hopefully with the continued breakthroughs in medical science there may be another “Tom” in the future that will receive a better prognosis. Please consider supporting The Tom Clarke Foundation”. Scott & Gill Clarke

Story

Summary: A number of us are walking from Grasmere to Treales (58 miles) in 2 days and raising money for the Tom Clarke Foundation 🥾 🏔. Grasmere is very personal to us, so we're going to walk from there back to Tom's home 🏠

What we're doing:

Cam, Nick and I are going to walk from Grasmere to Treales (58 miles) in 2 days. In 2002 (and in picture order) Tom, Cam, Nick, and I went to Tom's Grandma's house in Grasmere for his birthday 🎂 We stayed for a few days and it was arguably one of the best memories we ever had as friends.

We walked in the forests nearby and re-enacted scenes from Lord of the Rings like the sensationally cool 11 year olds we were 🏹, we created silly games with our imagination and surroundings 🧠, and we didn't have a single care in the world 🌍 - it was the epitome of childhood joy 💙. We'll never forget that birthday (the cover photo above is a picture from that weekend). We're going to tap into that care-free memory and carry it with us to Tom's home for a cup of tea - absolutely anyone is welcome to join us on the walk for however long, whenever they like! 🤗

Why we're here: On 18th April 2021 (just a few months shy of his 30th birthday), we lost Tom to stomach cancer which had spread aggressively.

Before Tom passed he was the best of us, and even now, he still is. He was our moral compass - "What would Tom do?" was a frequent question you'd ask.

He was overwhelmingly positive - even in his last weeks and days he never let his head drop and always lifted everyone up when we were struggling.

But what was best about him was that he cared ferociously. No matter how big or small the issue or occasion was, Tom always gave 100%. Now it's our turn to start being more Tom - we need to carry the torch he's given us and really make a difference in the world.

We're here to make happen what Tom wanted: help all those with Chron's and Colitis, those who are furthering research in cancer support, and those who rely on hospice care.

So whether it's £1 or £100, every donation helps and I have absolutely utterly completely no doubt whatsoever that if Tom were here to see your generosity, he'd be his usual bumblingly overwhelmed self with any gesture of kindness shown.
