The Rickshaw 100
Have you ever wondered how far it's possible to run pulling a passenger on a rickshaw? Yes? Me too. Hence I have devised the following: I'm planning to pull my custom made (by me) rickshaw up to 100 miles over a 32 hour period starting at 8am on Saturday 16th June and finishing at 4pm on Sunday 17th June.
I'm not doing this alone, this time you're coming with me! I'll be joined by 32 individual passengers over a 3.1 mile (5k) loop along Southend seafront starting and finishing outside Adventure Island. I'll collect a new passenger every hour, on the hour day and night for 32 hours. Let me know if you'd like to book a ride!
I'm hoping to be joined by support runners from the local running community, friends and family along the way.
We'll also have a few events happening at 'base camp' outside Adventure Island (near Feelgoods) for the children to join in.
As before, I'm raising funds for Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation, this time in support of their Forwards campaign. In part, these funds will be raised for the Dementia ward which is a cause close to my heart. I'm sure there are not many of you out there who have not been affected in some way by any of the 20 areas this appeal is supporting.
Over the past 20 years the Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation has raised more than £4.4million to help transform patient care at Southend University Hospital. To mark this milestone we are aiming to raise £500,000 for twenty different wards and departments across the Hospital. Projects include lifesaving equipment for the neonatal intensive unit, prostate cancer treatment, artwork for theatres and digital mobile x-ray technology.
