MATT (THE RUNNING SHORTS) FOR HOME FOR GOOD

Virtual London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
The full story is way too long to put in here so I am just going to talk about when our link to this amazing charity began. If you want to find out more about our adoption journeys and the building of our family you can see lots of videos, photos and posts at www.therunningshorts.co.uk.
In August 2020, during the first lockdown, we began introductions to meet our beautiful little Emilia following our second adoption process. At this stage we had never heard about Home For Good. During this week of introductions we spent many hours with Emilia and her foster carers who introduced us to their role as Champions for the Home For Good and shared with us all the amazing work they do in supporting every child who needs a home to find one. Following this and Emilia's placement in our family we read the book Home For Good by Dr Krish Kandia and we were blown away. (recommended)
The story and mission of the charity was both life affirming and more importantly life challenging. We feel so blessed and privileged to have been able to adopt 2 children and add to our family in this way but somehow it still doesn't feel like enough. The statistics around children entering the care system are truly heart breaking and we as a couple feel so passionate about doing all we can to help more children - and so in January we decided to start sharing our adoption story online via www.therunningshorts.co.uk in the hope that we could encourage others to take this step of faith and to consider how they can support a vulnerable child through fostering or adoption.
As part of this we have become Champions for Home For Good - raising awareness of adoption and the desperate need for more foster carers and adopters.
The work of Home For Good is crucial in raising awareness of the needs of children in care and raising up and supporting individuals, couples and families to take this step in fostering or adoption and supporting them and their children through the process and beyond.
We are so privileged to be apart of this and want to use the opportunity of running the London Virtual Marathon to raise some much needed and vital funds to support Home For Good in continuing their work which is truly life changing.
Thank you so much for your support and encouragement.
Home For Good's vision is a home for every child who needs one. We know that for children in care, it’s crucial to find the right placement at the right time - whether that’s a short-term foster placement in an emergency, a long-term foster placement or a new adoptive family. Currently, this isn’t always possible: there is an urgent need for thousands of foster families, and thousands more children are waiting for adoption. Home for Good exists to help make sure every child can have a stable, loving home where they can thrive.
