Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by the sudden cardiac death. We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.

As many of you will remember John Pirie (PJ) from Gulberwick, died following a Cardiac Arrest in December 2017, aged just 29. So it is in his memory we want to carry on providing these screenings.

Following a hugely successful event in June 2022 we are looking to raise more funds to allow us to bring the CRY team back to Shetland for future dates.

With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.
