10 Hours of swimming in the English Channel and the River Arun, West Sussex. Predict how far I swim (£10 a guess) and win £1000! · 30 April 2013

Chestnut Tree House is the children’s hospice for East Sussex, West Sussex, Brighton and Hove and South East Hampshire, caring for 300 children and young adults from 0-19 years of age every year, both at the hospice and in families’ own homes.

Story

Thanks for coming here! As well as helping the Life Limited Children of Sussex and their families, you can also win £1000 by guessing how far I will be swimming in 10 hours. All of the prize fund is donated by Jeremy Silverthorne Fine Jewellery and Shoreham Vehicle Auctions. 20% of funds raised will also go to the RNLI, to save lives at sea.

THE SIMPLE BIT:

You are here to sponsor me for swimming up to 35,000m in a 10 hour limit. By guessing how far I will manage you could win £1000. THIS DOES NOT COME FROM YOUR DONATIONS.

Full details are on www.swimminggardener.org.uk

Here are some important pointers to help you guess:

I can swim 5km in a pool in 83 minutes. I can swim 10km in a lake in 3 hours and 6 minutes. I can swim 12km in the sea in 4 hours 30 minutes.

The Distance from start point to the turn point (Black Rabbit Pub, Mill Road, Arundel) is approximately 22,000m

The Distance if I make it back to Littlehampton from the turn point will be approx 35,000m.

Each donation of £10 will entitle you to 1 guess in metres, ie, 21,315m or 26,641m...

Upon donating, you will receive an email link  which will take you to the Swimming Gardener website to place your guesses!
