Story
Why am I doing this?
I love books..I love reading...and I love Africa. But it is sad that some children in Africa are not getting as much education as they should have - because they don't have any books. So, I am running this page, where I will read 100 books within 1 year (by 15 May 2019) to raise money for Books2Africa.
Books2Africa will use this money to buy and ship 5,000 (yes, that's right, 5,000!) books to schools in Africa so children can enjoy the experience of being inside the dusty winds of Rajasthan, the freezing cold of Antarctica, the hunger of Oliver Twist or the joy of Charlie finding the last golden ticket or the breezy waves that the Secret Seven's dog feels or the thrill of finding gold bars with the Famous Five!
So what exactly am I going to do about this?
Each time I finish reading a book, I will post, just for your "enjoyment," either a written book review, an audio commentary, a special interview or even a ...podcast!
And how can you help, you ask me?
There are a few ways in which you can help me (and you don't have to choose just one!):
- Put a small donation towards my cause on JustGiving;
- Listen/ Read/ Enjoy my book review;
- Send me one (or as many as you like) books which you have enjoyed and would like me to read. When I give my book review, you will be named and get special credit (and if you are lucky, a special interview) for your generous book donation!
All books that I read as part of this challenge will become globe trotters. They may end up in Africa or America or Asia or even Australia (or may just be on a plane forever) entertaining more children ("and possibly adults") across the world!
